Purpose of the Position:
Conducts independent loan reviews to evaluate credit risk in the Bank’s loan portfolio and identifies and reports potential problem loans to Relationship Managers, Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
Key Accountabilities:
- Evaluates all components of the loan portfolio including:
- Analyzing credit and financial information to determine credit worthiness and sound borrowing capacity.
- Recommending the appropriate grade and loss reserve for individually reviewed credits.
- Preparing written reports to document reviews and to communicate classification changes.
- Determining the value and quality of property or goods held as collateral.
- Conducting a review of loans to determine adequacy of documentation.
- Emphasizes early identification of risk; prepares classified asset reviews and assists in monitoring and reporting problem loans.
- Assists in the development of risk management tools for the loan portfolio. Assists in the compilation of reports for the Board indicating risk management trends with recommendations to improve/ strengthen the quality of the loan portfolio.
- Participates in special projects as assigned by the Credit Review and Operational Risk Manager.
- Maintains credit risk proficiency through training, seminars, periodicals and participation in industry groups. Maintains contact with credit risk management officers at other banks, regulators, and external auditors. Prepares information for regulators and external auditors.
- Performs real estate appraisal reviews on independently prepared appraisals. Reviews a sample of work performed by appraisal management company.
- Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as requested.
