(BAMSI) was incorporated on March 21, 1975 as South Shore Multi-Services Inc., under Chapter 180 of the Massachusetts General Laws, as a not-for-profit human service organization. Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of high-value private foundation funders and prospects
- Take a leadership role in the RFR processes with government entities, such as DMH
- Implement and oversee grant management and strategy that aligns BAMSI’s mission and strategic goals
- Forge relationships with BAMSI administration and programmatic leadership to support securing information well in advance of proposal/reporting deadlines
- Identify and assess all potential funding opportunities from private foundations, government agencies and other grantmaking entities, as appropriate
- Secure meetings and presentations to foundation prospects; identify the best leadership partner for meetings, and ensure partner is equipped and well prepared to meet the objectives of the meeting and fulfill the role that’s needed to complement the strategy
- Synthesizes information into clear and concise proposals, reports, and letters of inquiry, along with budget projections and accountability/evaluation requirements
- Lead all aspects of creating and submitting and foundation grant proposals, including writing, preparing support documentation, timely reporting progress, managing deliverables, and maintaining professional relationships with corporate and foundation program officers before, during, and after grant cycles.
- Partner with the Manager of Marketing and Philanthropy, track all solicitations, reporting, and other communications
- Monitor deadline tracking charts and copies of fundraising correspondence
- Cultivate prospects and stewards existing donors to retain existing donors and acquire new relationships
- Provide expertise and assistance to programs on all matters related to foundation and government giving, including cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies
- Collaborate with the Marketing, Philanthropy, and Communications team to leverage events to engage funders
- Serve as a professional representative of BAMSI, communicating in a timely and gracious manner
- Work occasional evenings and weekends, as needed
- Participate in other projects and activities as determined by Vice President, Development
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.- 7 years of experience, including 2-4 years of fundraising, proposal writing, and foundation relationship building, ideally in a nonprofit setting.
- Experience in leading in-person funder meetings and highly comfortable working with foundation executives.
- Excel at planning, writing, storytelling, and creating compelling collateral.
- Superior interpersonal skills with proven ability to collaborate and build positive rapport with varied constituencies professionally; clarity, professionalism, and diplomacy in written and oral communications skills.
- Ability to apply sound judgment and responsible decision-making; tact and discretion is required to deal with highly confidential funder and prospect information.
- Must be a detail-oriented self-starter who is comfortable working independently as well as part of a close-knit team that values creativity, a sense of humor, energy, and positivity.
