Responsibilities
Promotes, creates, develops, and maintains an environment that supports a culture of engagement based on Brookdale’s Engagement Philosophy. Creates and manages the community’s resident programs department, ensuring it uses a person-centered approach starting with positive perceptions of aging while building relationships and connections.
Qualifications
Education and ExperienceA minimum of 3 years of direct experience with adults, coordinating, planning, and executing programs is required. Bachelor’s Degree in therapeutic recreation, gerontology, health care, education, or other related field preferred. Leadership experience is required.
Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special RequirementsMust have a valid driver’s license and may be required to obtain a commercial driver’s license based on the needs of the community.

Management/Decision MakingUses strong analytic skills and an in-depth understanding of resident programming and engagement to make varied decisions within the department. Demonstrates leadership ability to be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of resident engagement and programming. Uses sound judgment and experience to solve moderately complex problems based on precedent, example, reasonableness or a combination of these. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws.
Knowledge and SkillsHas an advanced knowledge of resident programming and uses it to complete and oversee assignments. Has a thorough understanding of the organization and work environment. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Has computer software skills including Microsoft Excel and Word and is comfortable using various social media platforms. Maintains positive and professional demeanor towards residents, visitors, families, and coworkers. Excellent oral and written communication and teaching skills required.
