Your Team
We have an immediate opening for an Estimating Lead in our Alberta Homes Division. This opportunity is based out of Edmonton, and requires a results oriented, career professional, who thrives on accepting new challenges within a fast paced environment.
Reporting to the Estimating Manager, Single Family (Alberta) Carmen Smilianov, the Estimating Lead coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to expedite production and resolve issues as they arise. They are responsible for the cost estimating, purchasing and the training and maintenance of team members, to ensure achievement of annual production objectives.
Your Key Deliverables
- Provide coaching and day to day leadership to the Estimating team to ensure daily, weekly and annual objectives are met
- Collaborate with the Estimating and Construction teams to quickly resolve issues related to quantities, product, quality, and timing
- Ensure accurate information is maintained in the database, with new options added as required to support sales and minimize custom option requests
- Review job budgets, and assist in preparing monthly anchor budgets
- Supply preliminary pricing of new models/elevations and products on an as needed basis
- Implement all price changes from trade partners with the approval of the Estimating Manager
- Execute tendering procedures, examine and analyse tenders with the approvals from the Estimating Manager and Construction Manager based on price, past performance, quality and safety
- Review variances, identify, and implement required changes to budgets and processes to reduce variances
Must Haves
- Post-secondary education in Architectural Technologies/ Building Development Technologies or experienced Certified Engineering Technologist
- 5 years of experience in estimating
- 1 year of leadership experience
- Experience with accounting and budgeting
- Strong MS Office skills
- Ability to manage and oversee a large volume of production in a fast paced environment
- Proven ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and act with a sense of urgency
