Job Posting for Musical Instrument Teacher for After School Instrument Lessons- (SY22-23) at Brookline Public Schools

Position Overview:


The Public Schools of Brookline is seeking qualified and dynamic music teachers for after school private instrument lessons for any of the following instruments for our Music Extension program:

  • violin
  • viola
  • cello
  • uprght bass
  • trumpet
  • trombone
  • clarinet
  • flute
  • saxophone
  • percussion
We are looking for people interested in teaching on one or multiple days of the week. Lessons generally run between 2:45pm and 6:15pm, Monday through Thursday, and between 2pm and 6pm on Fridays, though could be for a shorter timeframe on a given day.


In your cover letter, please include all instruments you can teach and to what level. Students are generally in grades 5 through 8 and at beginning to intermediate level.


Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Teaching instrument technique and skills to support students in learning an instrument and to support their work in their school-day Band or Orchestra classes.
  • Interacts with and understands students in ways that create a climate of respect, support, and high expectations.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree in content area.
