Description
The brewer will work in the production department and have responsibility for all facets of the brewing process from wort production to packaging. The brewer will participate in a variety of other duties, including facilities maintenance, cleaning, equipment maintenance, laboratory work, sensory, and research and development. We are a renowned industry icon and craft innovator, dedicated to brewing great beer and promoting diversity and inclusion within the craft beer community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Malt handling and wort production
- Dry hopping
- Packaging operations – keg filling and additional support
- Responsible for documentation and brewing activities
- Maintain safe and cleaning working environment and comply with all standard operating procedures
- Yeast management – including harvesting, pitching and record keeping
- CIP of fermenters, brite tanks, separation equipment and all general brewery cleaning
- Assist with maintenance
- Foster a safety-first culture by using proper PPE and best practices
- Must efficiently multitask during an 8-hour shift
- Assist in the lab running standard yeast and beer analyses (cell count, alcolyzer and basic plating)
MATERIALS/MACHINES/EQUIPMENT USED:
- Semi-automated packaging equipment (canning line)
- Keg cleaning and filling equipment
- Touchscreen machine controls
- Pumps
- Hoses, valves, clamps, gaskets & other brewery equipment
- Milling equipment
- Centrifuge
- Filtration equipment
- Forklift trucks
- Variety of hand and power tools
- Cleaning agents and other sanitizing and hazardous chemicals
- Compressed air and other gasses including CO2
- Limited computer and ERP (enterprise resource management) use
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Employee works on wet floors with wet equipment
- Employee regularly works around high voltage, hot water and steam
- Noise levels on packaging days can be quite loud
- Employee regularly works with hazardous materials
- Employee works near moving mechanical parts
Qualifications

- Attention to detail
- Ability to maintain log sheets and other written information thoroughly and accurately
- Ability to work unsupervised while maintaining safety and quality standards
- Ability to mange multiple processes at a time
- Ability to work in a diverse team environment
- Ability to effectively communicate with staff throughout the brewery
- An understanding of LOTO and other core safety issues
- Ability to safely operate a forklift or willingness to be trained and certified to operate a forklift safely
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment
- Have some mechanical aptitude in order to execute minor maintenance repairs on standard brewing equipment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work on your feet, standing and/or walking 8-10 hours a day
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Ability to frequently life and/or move up to 55 LBS
- Ability to occasionally lift and maneuver a keg
