School Bus Drivers safeguard students during transport to and from school and/or special events, and while loading and unloading from buses. School Bus Drivers regularly check the vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition, and that students are greeted with a friendly and welcoming smile.
Hours
- Monday through Friday
- Split Shift, 6:00 am - 9:00 am and 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
- Hours may vary depending on route and inclement weather
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities described herein are not a comprehensive list, and additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time, as necessitated by business demands.
- Maintain safe and appropriate behavior of all riders in accordance with established guidelines.
- Assess incidents, complaints, accidents, and/or potential emergency situations (e.g. road hazards, medical emergencies, accidents, etc.)
- Assists students and other passengers with safe loading and unloading from buses during transport and emergency situations.
- Perform routine cleaning on both interior and exterior to ensure safety, appearance, and sanitation of the vehicle.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections (e.g. gauge levels, exterior condition, etc.) to meet safety operation standards.
- Prepare written and verbal reports within requested deadlines. (e.g. field trip reports, incident reports, inspection records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, routing information, etc.)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- No experience needed but strongly recommended. Previous shuttle bus experience desired.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must have a current Missouri Driver’s License, with a clean driving record.
- Class B CDL license for vehicles that transport 15 or more including the driver with S (School Bus) endorsement.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check. (DOT physical exam, drug test, and criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance)
- Pay applicable fees for a new license and the required fees for the written and/or skills test.
