Sr. Business Analyst (Lvl 5)
Hybrid – Lansing, MI (2x/wk onsite)

Brooksource is seeking a Sr. Business Analyst to act as a contract resource for our Public Sector client’s environmental agency. The candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting strategic initiatives aimed at increasing efficiencies and garnering public support for multiple program areas. This includes enhancing requirements, actively contributing to all operational activities of the Business Analysis team, and acting as liaison between technical teams and stakeholders.
Your day-to-day activities will involve attending various standing meetings, actively listening to understand needs, leading strategic meetings and discussions, and conducting comprehensive analysis for related work products and deliverables. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public sector processes and be proficient in facilitating and refining requirements for ongoing efforts. Working knowledge of LEAN principles and contract compliance is needed to champion practices and streamline agency compliance. Candidates that are self-directed, quick learners, adept at building relationships and adaptable to changing needs are highly valued.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Facilitates requirements elicitation meetings and performs gap fit analysis for refinement and enhancement.
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates existing business systems and user needs to identify areas for improvement.
- Formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies by aligning process design and technology implementation to achieve strategic objectives and long-term goals.
- Leverage expertise in business process reengineering and mapping to identify new effective
- Prepares solution options, risk identification, and financial analyses such as cost/benefit, ROI, buy/build, etc.
- Writes detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop, modify, or document computer programs, including the preparation of Functional and Technical Specifications for reporting and data warehouse work, as well as the development of RFP
- Initiates knowledge transfer of solutions to cross-functional teams, including the Enterprise Reporting Team.
- Assists with various business warehouse/intelligence enhancements, including the deployment and management of end-user reporting tools and platforms.
- Collaborates closely with IT and business project teams to thoroughly understand reporting and data warehousing requirements, actively proposing effective solutions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 15 year of Business Analyst experience
- 7 years conducting business process review and requirements elicitation and documentation
- 5 years facilitating executive and diverse groups to topic consensus on complex and competing perspectives
- 5 years providing strategic analysis and support to programs or divisions
- 3 years with JIRA, user story development/validation, sprint planning and backlog grooming
- 3 years in Agile / Scrum environment
- 2 years with contract compliance and contract change notices, specific to requirements specifications
- 2 years practicing LEAN principals and supporting LPI initiatives
- Familiarity with industry standards (including Legacy, Core, and Emerging technologies), business process mapping, and business process reengineering.
- Familiarity with relational database (RDB) concepts and client-server
