What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeper position at Brookstone Estates?

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Know each resident and their family members.

2. Follow work/cleaning schedules as assigned and as closely as practical.

3. Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.

4. Coordinate daily housekeeping service with Wellness Office when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.

5. Daily clean/ polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, apartment heating/cooling units, etc., in resident apartment, recreational areas, etc., as instructed.

6. Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures. Ensure water marks are removed from fixtures.

7. Clean windows/mirrors in resident apartments, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit ways.

8. Clean floors, to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, etc. (NOTE: Ensure appropriate caution/safety signs are properly set up prior to performing such duties).

9. Vacuum and clean carpets.

10. Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, etc.

11. Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc., from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.

12. Clean hallways, stairways, and elevators.

13. Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacle with plastic liner.

14. Empty and sanitize ash trays daily.

15. Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with our established sanitation procedures.

16. Clean vacant apartments as assigned.

17. Ensure work/assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored at all times, including before leaving for breaks, meal times, and end of the work day.

18. Maintain an adequate supply of housekeeping supplies to perform daily tasks in utility/janitorial closets.

19. Report (and may repair/ replace) burned out light bulbs, exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, call lights, etc., to the maintenance manager as soon as practical.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

1. Engage residents and connect with them in a genuine, compassionate and memorable way.

2. Respond to customer needs/requests in a positive and helpful manner.

3. Order/request necessary supplies.

4. Proactively identify opportunities to improve the overall appearance of the community and its grounds.

5. Assist with transferring of residents’ property in the event of a move to a new apartment in the community.

6. Monitor and restock LEA supplies shelf for apartment cleanings.

7. Wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies (e.g., back brace, mechanical lifts, etc.) when lifting or moving heavy objects.

8. Keep work/assignment areas free of hazardous objects such as protruding mop/broom handles, unnecessary equipment, supplies, etc.

9. Follow proper techniques when mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions used for cleaning. Refer to manufacturer’s instructions when necessary.

10. Follow established policies governing the use of labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDs).

11. Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.

12. Follow established fire safety policies and procedures.

13. Report all hazardous conditions or equipment.

14. Ensure established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing housekeeping procedures.

15. Report missing or improperly labeled containers of hazardous chemicals to the Executive Director.

16. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and supplies when handling infectious materials and/or hazardous wastes or chemicals.

17. Report all accidents/incidents to supervisor no matter how minor they may be (NOTE: Such occurrences must be reported on the shift in which they occur).

18. Engage in continuous learning and development opportunities through attendance and participation in in-service, educational seminars, staff meetings and other learning experiences.

19. Perform any other duties as necessary or assigned.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $12.50 per hour
