Our public library system with 37 branches is seeking a detail-oriented, flexible and creative Publications Specialist - Photographer & Videographer to join our Marketing, Publicity, and Communications team, within the Broward County Libraries Division.

The Publications Specialist - Photographer & Videographer will be responsible for creating and curating engaging content for our library's digital platforms, including social media, website, email newsletters, printed pieces, and websites.

The purpose of this position is to create and disseminate visual assets such as photos, videos and graphics to promote the Library Division's brand and services to the public.

The successful candidate must have:
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of and first-hand experience with professional camera and video equipment
  • Skills in image and image editing
  • Graphic design experience
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • A proven track record of creating engaging content for social media platforms and other digital channels

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires one (1) year of creative writing courses from an accredited college or university or closely related education.

Requires one (1) year in graphic design, print communication, social media or closely related experience.

Preferences
  • Associate's, Bachelor's degree, or higher in Marketing, Digital Media, or relevant field
  • 3 years or more professional event photography, videography, and portrait photography experience
  • 3 years or more professional Adobe Creative Suite, photo editing, and video editing experience
  • 3 years or more professional video production experience including scripting, storyboarding, shooting, and editing
  • 2 years or more hands-on experience with email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact)
  • 2 years or more professional social media marketing and web design experience
  • 2 years or more professional experience in digital media, content creation, or a related field
General Description
Distributes accurate and timely information about programs, events, resources and news to community, customers, staff, media and other stake holders.
Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Designs print materials working directly with multiple clients; receives copy and artwork, color correcting artwork, layout of items, and sends out proofs; communicates with news media, community and shareholders.

Writes high-visibility copy for print and social media; educates the public using print materials.

Supervises and works closely with graphic design team on brochures, flyers, web pages, and ad campaigns to ensure that materials are brand-consistent, effective, and meet quality standards.

Writes content for web site internet and intranet and social media venues; interfaces with technical staff as necessary to implement complex website projects.

Reviews communications to ensure compliance with County standards and best practices, and oversees quality control.

Selects vendors and ensures that work with vendors is handled ethically and in compliance with County selection standards; works directly with vendors to get quotes.

Distributes marketing materials; writes event announcements to send to the media to promote events; produces flyers, posters, slideshows, and videos to market County events; photographs events, exhibits, people and facilities for record keeping, marketing, grant seeking, and employee morale.

Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
