Maintenance Mechanic Journeyman
General Description
- Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, hammers, welding equipment, micrometers and laser alignment tools.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance such as checking and changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
- Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
- Welds broken equipment, parts, pipe and structural steel.
- Attach test instruments to equipment, and read dials and gauges to diagnose malfunctions.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment and machinery such as pumps, gearboxes, compressors, valves, and piping that is associated with it.
- Responsible for changing and installing new equipment such as pumps, gearboxes and valves.
- Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Performs other duties as required.

- Ability to perform repetitive movements, work overhead, use hands to grasp, reach with arms, acsend/descend stairs, ladders, fixed ladders, walkways, walk, stand, stoop for long periods of time, enter tight congested areas to include awkard positions, sit, climb, balance, and be able to lift 50 lbs. single person – 80 lbs. two persons.
- Ability to work extended hours in addition to normal shift in all weather and temperature extremes.
- Vision adequate to perform all required tasks.
- Ability to work over 6 feet above the ground; must not be afraid of heights.
