Center Manager

Job Description:

The Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America (CSREA) at Brown University supports and generates rigorous and accessible research, performance, art and scholarship on a broad range of pressing issues related to race and ethnicity to help build greater understanding and a more just world. Through various programs and initiatives, CSREA fosters creative approaches to entrenched problems such as: social inequality, police profiling, implicit bias, ethnic stereotyping and immigration policies through rigorous and accessible research, scholarship, education, performance, and art.

The Center Manager works in partnership with the Center Director and Associate Director on strategic planning, design, and management of all financial, administrative, and human resource operations as well as academic programs, events, and communications for an interdisciplinary scholarly and research center.

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of closely related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience providing high-level administrative support in an academic setting.
• Strong strategic and financial planning skills.
• Proven ability to evaluate and make sound recommendations on complex issues.
• Preferred familiarity with University operations, including Facilities, Finance and project management.
• Well-developed team collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in the use of computers and computer applications, especially Microsoft Excel and Google Suite.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
