Position Purpose The Project Coordinator supports research activities in the research lab, the Fluids Testing Facility, and with research collaborators both at Brown and at other institutions. The incumbent will support the principal investigator (PI) and the research group in coordinating research activities and in managing laboratory and facility operations. The Coordinator will work with the School’s Research Administration staff to proactively support the PI in the managing the project budgets. The Coordinator will also manage project deadlines, create and distribute reports to sponsors and deliverables according to award and project schedules. The incumbent will support the creation, editing, formatting, and proofreading of documents, which can include project reports, research manuscripts, presentations, and conference abstracts. The Project Coordinator will work with School of Engineering technical, administrative, and lab staff and students to coordinate purchasing materials, supplies and equipment. The incumbent will also assist with lab personnel management such as overseeing appointments, onboarding, travel plans, safety training, and compliance with human resource activities. This is a three-year, part-time (67% effort), fixed term, position that is available for extension contingent upon the continued availability of funding. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree required. A minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience working in an organization that includes multiple parties and experience in financial operations. Experience in working in a scientific environment preferred. Experience in higher education and/or research administration preferred. Job Competencies Indicate the essential job competencies. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents, both internal and external, emphasizing tact and diplomacy. Excellent skills and experience with various computer software including Microsoft Office (Word and PowerPoint) Google Office (Gmail, GDocs, GSheets), Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator (preferred). Internet competencies – Internet searches, updating Drupal-based websites. Detail orientated with a high level of accuracy. Ability to maintain confidence and discretion in sensitive financial and personnel matters related to laboratory activities. Ability to work and interact with various levels of personnel and communicate effectively, independently, and in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
