Description

1.

Maintenance:  Change oil and filters; lubricate all equipment.  Prepare all equipment for next day.

2.

Repair of pumps:  Replace or repair all equipment.  Drive to jobsite to repair pumps when necessary.  Fix flat tires and change tires when necessary.  Troubleshoot problems over the phone when necessary.

3.

Welding:  Hard face weld on some wear parts.  Weld and make boom pipe for concrete placement accessories.

4.

DOT Certification:  Ensure all trucks meet DOT specifications.

5.

Must keep a list of parts used and hours spent on repairs.

6.

Operate pump when necessary.

Essential Job Functions

1.

Employee must transfer small parts (filters) from storage shelf to truck and install same

2.

Employee must transfer small parts (filters) from storage shelf to truck and install same.

Employee must remove/replace fasteners; transfers ¾ inch impact wrench to/from ground, to/from area of need.   

4.

Employee must remove/replace fasteners; transfers ½ inch impact wrench to/from ground, to/from area of need.

5.

Employee must remove/replace parts (15-degree transition, starter), transfers parts from storage shelf to area of installation.

Employee must remove/replace parts (15-degree transition, starter), transfers parts from storage shelf to area of installation.

7.

Employee must remove/replace parts (batteries); transfers parts from storage/staging area to area of installation.   

8.

Employee must remove/replace large parts (rocker valve) with assistance; transfers parts with assistance from storage/staging area to area of installation.   

9.

Employee must review/replace parts (6” to 5” elbow); transfers parts from staging area to area of installation.

10.

Employee must remove/replace parts (6” to 5”: elbow); transfers parts from staging area to area of installation.   

11.

Employee must remove/replace parts (over-sized brake drums), transfers parts from staging area to area of installation.   

12.

Employee must transfer large parts (transmission, dual tires) to/from work area to installation; uses dollies.   

13.

Employee must remove/replace fasteners.   

14.

Employee must grease zerts; must remove fasteners.   

15.

Employee must position weld clamp, charge clamps requiring coupling forces of 25 pounds up to 2/hour.

16.

Employee must access back of pump truck, pipe on boom, clearance lights on cab to troubleshoot, service, repair same; must access parts mezzanine. 

17.

Employee must access truck cab, forklift, second level parts room. Requires climbing stairs.

18.

Requires walking up to 1 mile in 8 hours to access pump trucks in yard, service bays; must access parts storage areas, tools.

19.

Employee must access between drive train and truck frame to troubleshoot, service, repair pumps. Must access spaces with entries 11 inches x open inches.

20.

Employee must troubleshoot, service, repair pump kit, mud caps.

21.

Employee must access under rear axle to troubleshoot, service, repair drive line.  

22.

Employee must access boom to troubleshoot, service, repair throttle check valve.

 

EDUCATION:  Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, mechanical trade school experience preferred.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE:  Must be trained in repairs, hydraulic system, and have good welding skills. Commercial Drivers License (CDL) a plus

 

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE LEVEL:  Knowledge of concrete pumps and the mechanics involved in keeping them in running order.  Must have large variety of tools and toolbox to do job.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:  Works mostly in garage area that is sheltered from the elements. Must be able to work overtime when necessary and weekends when necessary. Needs to have operating knowledge of concrete pumps.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Employee must stand to troubleshoot, service, repair pump truck fleet; to operate bridge crane, band saw, bench grinder, drill press; to weld; to perform electrical repairs; to sweep/clean work area.  Requires near/far/color/depth vision to drive pump truck, service truck; to operate forklift; to troubleshoot, service, repair pump truck fleet; to operate bridge crane, band saw, bench grinder, drill press; to weld; to perform electrical repairs; to sweep/clean work area.   Ability to work on heavy equipment with a certain amount of lifting of parts and tools to repair and to replace.   When parts are extremely heavy, have the ability to run the equipment to help with lifting such as forklifts, jacks, etc.  Must have normal abilities in hearing and seeing and must be able to verbally communicate with others.  Have the manual dexterity to climb on and around the pump truck in all weather conditions common to the area of the country.  Ability to lift 100 pounds to an overhead position.  Must be able to occasionally push and pull up to 50 pounds.   Ability to stand for up to 12 hours a day, have the balance and dexterity to walk around various construction jobsites.  Employee must tolerate working environment with outside ambient temperatures, including excessive heat, cold, and precipitation.  Employee must tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures.
