About this Opportunity
Brunswick County Department of Social Services is accepting applications for Spanish Language Interpreter. We are looking for the right person to join our team.
Brunswick County Department of Social Services is a part of a consolidated Health and Human Services agency, made up of roughly 250 dedicated professionals who serve the citizens of our county by providing essential human services. The Interpreter is responsible for providing Spanish/English interpreting and translation when needed. Areas of assistance include interpretation for the Economic Services division, assisting with applications and recertifications for Medicaid, Food and Nutrition Services, and Work First, and Child Support. In addition, an individual in this position may assist the Social Work division with interpreting for Child and Adult Protective Services reports, case initiations and investigations, or during supervised visits between parents and children.
Job responsibilities include:
- Complete changes, enter applications/recertifications into state system, and complete interviews
- Complete NC FAST Tasks daily
- Enter data into NC FAST and document management system
- Attend Trainings
- Stay abreast of policy updates
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of NC FAST
- Ability to complete NC FAST Certifications
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Communication Skills
- Organizational Skills
Hours are 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Friday. Must be available to work during emergency situations.
Education and Experience
High diploma (or equivalent) and at least one year of experience in clerical-administrative work; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Direct experience with NC FAST is highly desirable as well as the Intro to Human Services and Income Maintenance Caseworker - NC FAST Certificates.
Completion of Community Spanish Interpreter Certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines including computers, calculators, copiers, facsimile machines, etc. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for periods of time.
