What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utilities Crew Supervisor - Location Services position at Brunswick County?
The Utilities Crew Supervisor - Location Services performs specialized skilled work as related to the Brunswick County utility system and related appurtenances. This position is responsible for ensuring assigned locators are completing their assigned tickets by their due dates and performing location services while maintaining positive employee, client and public relations. Work involves scheduling staff, supervision of Locators, providing assistance with safety procedures and standard operating procedures, and coordinating training required for locator personnel. Responsible for ensuring compliance with the North Carolina Underground Utility Safety and Damage Prevention Act, performing root cause analysis, maintaining location records using the County’s location services software, assisting in the preparation of a variety of reports, and maintaining records as related to the utility system. Must exercise initiative and independent judgment in completing assignments. Reports to the Construction Superintendent.
Qualifications
Graduation from high school and seven (7) years of experience in location services, surveying, water distribution, wastewater collections, and/or the construction industry, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must be familiar with underground utility locating equipment and methods.
- Must possess a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License.
- Possession of a North Carolina or South Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A preferred or must obtain within the probationary period.
- Possession of a collections or distribution system certification preferred or must obtain within the probationary period.
Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to operate pump station equipment and motor vehicle. Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force and/or up to 50 pounds of force more frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical demand requirements are for Medium Work.
