**Job Overview: **
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Safety Field Specialist to join our utility construction team. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in ensuring the implementation and enforcement of safety protocols across all construction activities. The Safety Field Specialist will collaborate closely with site supervisors and field personnel to maintain a safe working environment, mitigate potential hazards, and uphold compliance with industry regulations.
**Responsibilities: **
1. **Safety Compliance: ** Monitor and enforce adherence to safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements on construction sites.
2. **Risk Assessment: ** Conduct thorough risk assessments for ongoing and upcoming projects, identifying potential hazards and recommending preventive measures.
3. **Training and Education: ** Develop and deliver safety training programs for construction personnel, emphasizing best practices and ensuring awareness of potential risks.
4. **Incident Investigation: ** Lead investigations into safety incidents, accidents, or near misses, analyzing root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
5. **Safety Inspections: ** Conduct regular site inspections to assess safety conditions, equipment, and work practices, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
6. **Emergency Response: ** Develop and implement emergency response plans, ensuring all team members are well-prepared to respond effectively to emergencies or accidents.
7. **Documentation: ** Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions, preparing comprehensive reports for management and regulatory authorities.
8. **Safety Culture Promotion: ** Foster a strong safety culture by promoting awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement in safety performance.
9. **Regulatory Compliance: ** Stay abreast of changes in safety regulations and standards relevant to utility construction, ensuring the organization's compliance.
10. **Weekly Safety Meetings: ** Facilitate and conduct weekly safety meetings with construction teams to discuss safety updates, address concerns, toolbox talks, and reinforce safety protocols.
11. **First Aid, CPR, and AED Instruction: ** Provide instruction and training in First Aid, CPR, and AED courses to ensure that team members possess the necessary skills to respond to medical emergencies on the construction site.
12. **Driving**: Driving in a responsible manner to conduct crew inspections at various job sites on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong sense of responsibility, excellent driving skills, and the ability to navigate different locations efficiently. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth execution of our operations, and we are looking for a reliable team player to fill this important position.
**Qualifications: **
- Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field degree or certifications- strongly encourage
- Proven experience as a Safety Specialist in utility construction projects.
- Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards.
- Demonstrated commitment to acquiring Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (such as OSHA 30, HeartSaver Instructor, etc.) within a designated timeframe if not currently held.- -

- Good Driving Record- Prospective candidates must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record. A good driving record is defined as having minimal or no traffic violations, accidents, or incidents that could adversely impact safe driving practices. This requirement is essential as the role may involve travel to various work sites, and a responsible driving history is crucial for the safety of oneself and others.
- Drug Screening- Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening. The selected applicant will be required to undergo a drug test as part of the hiring process. This is a crucial prerequisite to ensure a drug-free and safe working environment for all team members.
