Payroll Generalist

The Americas Payroll Generalist is a team member of the BT in the America’s Human Resources team that processes payroll across several Latin America countries and possibly the US and Canada (approximately 3,000 employees total in 10 LATAM countries and the US & Canada). The payroll generalist will also process benefit deductions, tax and internal and other external reporting for BT’s staff and employees in each of the various legal entities within the US, Canada, LATAM and for BT’s employees on international assignment in the Americas.

• Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all BT employees based in the US and Canada.
• Maintains and updates employee records using BT’s payroll platforms: ADP Workforce Now, ADP Streamline, and ADP eTime. Includes maintenance of hourly timecards and time off requests. Enters new hires, terminations, and/or imports other changes into systems.
• Audits with great attention to detail and accuracy all data entry, calculations, and processing of payments. Uses reports and Excel to produce exceptions for research and resolution during audit processing.
• Prepares reconciliations and funding after payroll processing for finance department and various vendors relating to health insurance, disability, 401k, and other related programs and employee benefits.
• Ensures accurate calculations, payment and the required audit backup for all payroll transactions including payroll taxes to meet SOX, regulatory, and government agency and statutory requirements.
• Manages the payroll helpdesk for BT’s employees in the US and Canada researching and resolving payroll questions and issues. May include light training when customers need help with timecard related issues. Customer service focus at a high level.
• Handles routine and ad-hoc report requests. Must be very comfortable with Excel and able to perform well with creating formulas, V-Lookups, and pivot tables.
• Works with BT payroll providers to respond to government tax filings, court judgements and other legal documents for tax, unemployment, garnishments and other similar.

• Strong working knowledge of ADP platforms and the various file formats and outputs. ADP WorkForce Now, ADP Streamline, and ADP eTime experience preferred.
• Solid knowledge of US payroll laws, taxes and regulations.
• Experience processing Canada payroll preferred.
• Must have excellent Excel skills and be comfortable with imports and creating formulas, V-Lookups, and Pivot tables.
• Understanding of payroll and HR software, solutions and interfaces, as a working payroll practitioner / generalist.
• Must know full cycle payroll activities including all related accounting aspects.
• Effective communicator – written and verbal.
• Exceptionally strong analytical skills.
• Certified Payroll Professional or FPC a plus, but not mandatory.
• 5 years of experience in payroll for companies with over 2,000 employees based in multi-state, across multi jurisdictions and across multi legal entities. California, Pennsylvania, and New York experience a plus.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-priority & complex environment
