Job Title: Maintenance Manager
Work Location: Bozeman, MT; intermittent overnight travel required
Position Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Reports to: Operations Manager

Job Summary: Maintenance Managers are expected to be at an expert level in all department duties as well as being held accountable for job timelines, crew management, client interactions, and maintenance of equipment and inventory control. They are responsible for leading, managing, and upholding accountability across their department.

Ideal Candidate: Maintenance Managers should exemplify leadership qualities, enjoy working outdoors doing physical work, excel at problem-solving and time management, and pride themself on their professionalism and work ethic.

General Duties:
Leadership

  • Simplify and streamline processes to reduce unnecessary complexity and wasted efforts
  • Delegate and Elevate: Build and grow your team to be capable of reliably operating independently in accordance with BTi Values, Policies and Practices and complete additional high priority tasks. Delegating effectively to get out of the day to day minutiae and focus efforts on the bigger picture. Constantly asking - What is my highest and best use?
  • Predicting and Planning: Reinforcing direction and the ability to prioritize as a team
  • Long-term predicting: ability to predict and plan 90 days and beyond in terms of scheduling, inventory and hiring/training needs
  • Short-term predicting: ability to solve issues on a daily and weekly basis for the greater good of the company

Systemize

  • Identify, document, and fine-tune core processes to integrate them into a functioning operation that constitutes the BTi way of conducting business
  • Incorporate checklists to automate processes and remove room for human error
  • Creating consistency within your department to accomplish simplicity in management, efficiency, better results, predictability, more enjoyment, and more profitability
  • Monitoring and enforcing the standardization, evolution, and success of BTi's training with the goal to keep improving the outcomes and amount of time invested.

Structure

  • Zoom out to consider and observe the departments day-to-day operations to find areas of improvement: reducing complexity and creating/driving accountability
  • Use the accountability chart to determine the right structure for your department and training, identify all available seats, be proactive about hiring needs, and get the right people in the right seats.

Manage
People systems:

  • Resolving interpersonal conflict between crew members and escalate when necessary
  • Completing quarterly performance reviews in alignment with BTi process
  • Communicating clear expectations
  • Rewarding and recognizing wins
  • Be involved in the onboarding and take authority in the termination process department
  • Have a clear understanding of all of the titles and jobs descriptions in BTi including leadership, support, and field employees to be able to provide positive support and exercise proper channels of communication.
  • Equipment and material inventory
  • Engage in leadership and continued education when elected by the leadership team or department
  • Assists Operations Manager in: Scheduling jobs, Reporting job progress, Manage job budget, Out of town accommodations
  • Department management:
  • Defining Project scope and planning
  • Customer communication
  • Day-to-day Site Management
  • Billing, to include Change Orders if applicable to project
  • Quality control through project review, communicating standards clearly and effectively, enforcing BTi standards, and ensuring proper training.

Accountability

  • Ensure department members uphold and operate within company values
  • Followed by all: train and manage your department to follow BTi processes and policies
  • Expert at all department products, services, and projects
  • Proficient in operating all trade equipment safely and efficiently and qualified to train crew members
  • Responsible for equipment care, maintenance, and organization
  • Capable of leading all types of jobs
  • Utilize project management software, expertly and completes mandatory daily reports
  • Develop work schedules for crew members to ensure each job is adequately staffed including assigning tasks to crew members at each job
  • Supervises all crew members
  • Solves disputes between crew members
  • Ensures safety compliance
  • Oversees quality control
  • Excels at responding to all communications, both inter-company and client related in a professional manner
  • Attend and engage in regular company meetings
  • Oversee and assist in training of crew members

Physical Demands:

  • Use of full-face or half-face respirators, when applicable
  • Heavy lifting: Lifting and carrying 50 lbs. routinely, occasionally >50lbs.
  • Working at heights above 10 feet, including from extension ladders
  • Standing for extended periods
  • Bending, crouching, kneeling, grasping regularly throughout the day
  • Ability to work in a full range of environmental elements; temperatures have ranged from approximately 10 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED Certificate (required)
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and drive accountability (Required)
  • Prior construction industry experience (highly preferred)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $33.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
