JOB SUMMARY
The BCSN Production Specialist is responsible for shooting and editing and producing show segments, in-house promotions, and programs from script to finish for BCSN’s Nightly news program.
The Production Specialist acts as director as needed
- Production Specialist reports directly to the Production Manager of BCSN with indirect reporting to the Director of Local Stations and Anchor Sports Director
- There are no direct reports to this position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Production Specialistis accountable for :
- Shooting and editing news stories and highlights for air on BCSN
- Using BCSN production and editing equipment to make skilled edits to show segments, creative videos, in-house promotions for BCSN and Local Stations;
- Using creativity to write and coordinate script and creative graphics for videos used for promotions and videos;
- Acting as a line producer for BCSN’s nightly sports news program.
- Acting as director as needed for segments for BCSN’s nightly news program
- Maintaining current working knowledge of all editing equipment, cameras, graphics and any new equipment purchased;
- Accurate and timely completion of all associated paperwork;
- Adhering to the Company’s policies and procedures, including the EEO guidelines and safety, at all times;
- Performing any miscellaneous departmental duties as needed.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent Required
- Relevant Bachelor’s Degree and two years prior relevant practical work experience or the equivalent combination of relevant education and / or practical work experience Required
- Personal computer experience with knowledge of all current and common software products Required
- 2 Years of Broadcast Television News experience with videography and editing Required
- 1 Year experience working in sports production Preferred
- 1 Year experience with Newsroom Production Systems like ENPS or iNews Preferred
- Working Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and codecs and compression techniques for web video Preferred

Working Conditions
The Production Specialist is an exempt position and works 40 hours a week with an irregular schedule that includes nights and weekends and holidays with additional time as needed.
The Production Specialist works in an automated business office environment with business and office equipment including telephones, personal computers, calculators, cell phones, copy and fax machines and the Internet.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs of equipment used in the performance of job functions A valid driver’s license and a driving record that is insurable by the Company’s insurance carrier is required.
The Production Specialist is subject to periodic legal and driving records checks and will be required to give written approval upon request.
This position and hours are subject to change as deemed necessary by the Company.
Physical Demands
