Over 75 years ago a new style of pizza was born in the Motor City, and it was different. What makes a pizza Detroit-Style?

The same things that made Detroit, MI – a little bit of ingenuity, some stubborn spirit and a whole lot of heart. It’s what sparked an original idea back in 1946 to take a steel auto pan, create something new and make Buddy’s the birthplace of Detroit-Style Pizza. Detroit-Style Pizza is recognizable by its iconic square shape and crunchy, cheesy corner slices.

Founded on the corner of Six Mile and Conant Buddy’s has now grown to over 20 locations and is expanding throughout the mid-west to introduce Detroit-Style Pizza beyond the Detroit area.

Our Dough Makers play an essential role in serving our guests and delivering a great dining experience! The primary objective of a dough maker is to consistently prepare Buddy’s award-winning dough to our specifications. It is essential that our pizzas meet the high expectations of our Guests. As a valued member of Buddy’s team, you are entrusted with our secret recipe. Being responsible for the continued success of a Detroit landmark is a big responsibility; one we hope you will respect and be proud to be a part of.

Cheese (Responsibilities)

• Prepare and stretch Buddy's famous dough to specifications and standards in a timely manner.
• Responsible for the completion of the daily prep list to ensure consistency and quality.
• Ensure high quality of pizza ingredients during production and storage processes including storing, labeling, and rotating product properly.
• Communicate directly with Managers when a dough prep concern arises.
• Demonstrates teamwork by assisting other employees with their duties as needed.
• Ensures kitchen workstations remain spotless, clean, and sanitized.
• Maintains a favorable work relationship with all company employees, to promote a harmonious and professional environment.
• Follows health and safety guidelines.
• Always provides a favorable image of Buddy’s Pizza.
• Performs all other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

Toppings (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities)

• High energy working to lead, train, and keep up with the pace of the restaurant and the team
• Dependable team player with successful record of work attendance
• Ability to listen and communicate effectively
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time
• Ability reach, lift, bend and carry heavy objects
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must always adhere to Buddy’s uniform policy and standards
• Flexibility to work varied shifts including nights and weekends

Sauce (Education and Experience)

• Kitchen experience is recommended

Physical & Safety Requirements

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided and required to be used as required.
• Follows health and safety guidelines.
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to reach, lift, bend and carry 50 lbs.
