Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist ophthalmologists in providing eye care services to patients.
Duties:
- Conduct preliminary patient screenings including vital signs and medical history
- Assist with ophthalmic procedures such as eye exams and minor surgeries
- Prepare examination rooms with necessary equipment and instruments
- Educate patients on eye care, medications, and post-operative care
- Perform diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, tonometry, and lensometry
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with medical coding
- Handle administrative tasks including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to ophthalmology a bonus.
- Experience in patient care a plus
- knowledge in medical and electronic health record systems like Medent
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
