SUMMARY
This position is responsible for shipping, receiving, stocking, storing, loading, and delivering commercial door hardware materials, performing inside sales via direct customer interaction and phones, and assisting in a warehouse environment to prep hardware for commercial contract projects.
Typical Salary Range: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00/year DOE (Depending on Experience)

Schedule:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Receiving/Shipping – Physically receive materials from multiple shipping companies. Opens bales, crates, and other containers to effectively stock incoming merchandise. Accurately receive all products associated with our business into a software system and process all associated paperwork. Organize and store materials in warehouse environments. Prepare materials for Will-Call for customer pickup. Ship products related to all business operations including transfers to our Kent location. Load, secure, and deliver products via 1-ton pickup truck and 20’ trailer to various job sites. Inside counter and phone sales as needed. Accurately processes customer orders. Processes customer’s and follows through with the necessary paperwork. Helps key cylinders and cut keys when caught up on other duties.
Proficiency with the vendor websites to understand how to look up shipping dates for products on order, and shipping statuses of orders in transit. www.builders-hardware.com
Assists with inventory counting and inventory accuracy.
Other duties required based on business needs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with two digit whole numbers.
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to operate a basic calculator.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver’s license required.
SAFETY
If doing any work in the HM shop or keys-hop safety equipment is Required. Eye Protection and Ear
Protection is always required when cutting in HM shop or cutting keys. Gloves are required whenever you are handling materials. Must have closed toed shoes/boots and full-length pants.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Warehouse area is two level with stairs access of which all is Indoors.
MINIMUM STANDARDS
1. Maintain a positive attitude.

5. Complete all paperwork properly when checking, inputting into the computer and putting away stock.
6. All incoming freight must be inspected for damage and any possible damage or missing packages and noted on the freight bill at the time of delivery.
7. Answering the phones is a priority for the counter person. If the quantity of walk-in customers waiting makes this not possible, return your voice messages within one hour.
8. If a promise is made to a customer or another department for the completion of an order, then keep that promise. If something unexpected arises that affects that promised order completion time – then call / notify that person to let them know.
9. The stock needs to be put away as quickly as possible while still maintaining accuracy. The order of importance for incoming stock is UPS Reds and Blues, Fed Ex air, UPS Ground, Fed Ex Ground, incoming stock orders, Transfers, Incoming Priority Mail and last of importance returns. By going in this order, high priority rush orders where the customer may have paid for speedy freight will get the highest priority.
10. All UPS incoming packages need to be checked in and inputted into the computer by noon.
11. Non-stock room and receiving need to be kept neat and organized.
12. Meet time deadlines on contract log orders. When deadlines cannot be met, contact consultant to inform & work out a realistic time.
13. Treat each customer (walk-in, phone, service call, and co-worker) respectfully.
14. Keep workbench and work areas neat and orderly.
15. Stay busy while on the time clock and do not waste time in non-productive activities or excessive personal conversations. www.builders-hardware.com
