Description
Bullis School seeks an Upper School Latin Teacher to contribute to our vibrant learning community starting in the 2023-2024 academic year. Candidates should be capable of, and interested in, teaching a wide range of students with from Latin I to Latin V/VI for grades 9-12. Responsibilities include teaching five classes, contributing to department initiatives, and advising. Additional opportunities to supervise after-school activities are based on need and interest. The Bullis Upper School World Languages program emphasizes acquisition, teaching towards proficiency, and assessing performance using Integrated Performance Assessments (IPAs). Guided by the theory and principles of Comprehensible Input (CI), teachers build lessons that engage and challenge students as they grow towards an ability to function in the target language. Teachers employ their creativity to form interdisciplinary, cultural, and personal connections by incorporating a variety of media, such as novellas and blogs, in the target language.

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Latin, Classics, Education, or related field (required)

Masters Degree in Latin, Classics, Education, or related field (preferred)

Minimum of three years of teaching experience in secondary education (preferred)

Experience teaching in a technology-rich environment (preferred)

Salary : $41,500 - $52,500
