DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Priorities: in order and percentage of time committed
Sales and Customer Service: 70%
- Offer an elevated service exceeding guest expectations on every level. Our team will work collaboratively to instinctually deliver hospitality that exceeds all of our guests wants and needs. By working as one team to take care of our collective guests, our Wine Educators utilize top tier hospitality and a proactive sales strategy to increase guest satisfaction, secure return visits all while driving towards wine sales
Education: 30%
- Continually strive to be a leader in the wine industry; through knowledge, passion, hospitality and the desire for wine expertise. Through consistently studying our unique vineyard sourcing, winemaking processes, and our evolving brand standards we expect each Wine Educator to be an ambassador for our vision for Abbot’s Passage as well as a liaison for the Bundschu Family as a whole
Summary:
The Wine Educator is responsible for providing a unique and memorable experience for each guest of the winery through wine education specific to the vineyards sourced and wine processes used. Responsibility for a developed wine knowledge and know how on other wine varietals and basic wine making processes. Our Wine Educators have a strong focus on sales. This dynamic role is for team players who support each other while having the flexibility to host guests in many different settings, including at a tasting bar, seated table service, food and wine programs and private group experiences. Passion for wine knowledge and elevated customer service is a must, as is energy, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor.
Areas of Responsibility:

Sales and Customer Service
- Accountability for achievement of retail goals, including sales, wine club sign-ups and data collection
- Be a brand ambassador demonstrating the culture and philosophies of Abbot’s Passage Glen Ellen Winery and Mercantile
- Exhibits excellent customer service skills while showing a genuine desire to help customers in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.

Education
- Wine-knowledgeable with the strong desire to continually learn more.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, follow-up and work in a fast pace environment under pressure
- Must be flexible in working weekend/special events
- At least (2) years experience in hospitality industry in a guest facing role
- At least (1) year experience in wine industry in a guest facing role or wine making experience
- Customer service and/or retail experience, restaurant experience preferred
- Must have ability to be ServSafe certified
- Excellent organizational & interpersonal skills with attention to detail
- Must have passion for wine and customer service as well as working on a diverse team
- Experience with TOCK reservation systems a plus
- Experience with POS System a plus
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality, work effectively in team/crew environment, adherence to all
