The Project Manager will lead or participate in the safe design and construction of both Greenfield and existing facility projects for Bunge in the North American region. The design and construction must align with strategic initiatives, and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local code requirements in Canada and the United States. Associated work will include collaboration on or leadership of in-house design in concert with engineering firms for the successful completion of projects, utilizing a stage-gated approach. The incumbent will be responsible for engaging in all categories of projects, including: Project Execution, Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, Risk, Business and Commercial, Information Management, Health-Safety-Environment, Quality, Staffing, and Operations. Qualified candidates will coordinate with other corporate and support entities in the aforementioned categories to manage capital projects that could exceed $5 M each. The incumbent will interface with senior level stakeholders on a regular basis.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with preparation and/or oversight of the development of design and feasibility studies for projects at BNA or greenfield facilities using a steadfast stage-gated project management approach
- Develop and review project cost estimates and direct modifications as appropriate and required
- Prepare and/or review budgets for expenditures on outside consulting engineers and regularly review the work of consultants
- Review equipment specification recommendations and review construction bid packages
- Prepare and/or review and monitor controls on scheduling and project costs
- Prepare and/or assemble periodic project reports and engineering activities summaries for projects he/she is managing
- Work with the Senior Project Managers to evaluate, plan and develop capital expenditure projects
- Ensure capital and expense projects are aligned with business unit objectives and completed safely within scope, schedule and budget
- Manage project submission process to include evaluation of projects, review of proposals and advise on project feasibility
- Provide assistance to plant locations in identifying and developing projects resulting in added profit or cost savings
- Communicate and model good business practices that support the company’s core values.
Required Education/Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Mechanical, Chemical, or Agricultural related engineering preferred.
- A combination of experience as outlined below in any of the following sectors is required: Grain Handling, Oilseeds Processing, Agriculture, Biofuels, Bio-Products, Pulp and Paper, Food and Beverage, or Specialty Chemicals. Some agricultural processing experience is required.
- Project Management: Candidate must have experience participating in projects greater than $2.5 M TIC. Minimum 8 years of combined project management and construction experience required.
- Engineering: Candidate shall have minimum 5 years of experience working with engineering colleagues across multiple disciplines.
- Procurement: Candidate will be required to collaborate with procurement staff throughout the project life cycle, from initial estimates through tender and final award.
- Project Controls: Candidate shall demonstrate ability to control Scope, Cost, and Schedule on all assigned projects.
- Risk: Candidate should have experience analyzing project risks throughout the project life cycle.
- Business and Commercial: Candidate should have experience assisting commercial and business development teams to develop financial models for projects.
- Information Management: Candidate should have project experience with collaboration software applications.
- Health-Safety-Environment: Candidate shall have minimum 5 years of experience in these key project categories directly or indirectly on projects. Asset-based experience and knowledge in NFPA 36, 61, and 652 are a plus.
- Quality: Candidate should be familiar with Project Quality control techniques.
- Project Staffing: Candidate should have an understanding of how to develop and design organizational charts for projects.
- Operations: Candidate shall have minimum 3 years of experience working on an owner’s team at an operating asset.
- 3 plus years of experience directly or indirectly managing others, including plant or multi-plant operation
- Demonstrated leadership skills including building and motivating teams
- Demonstrated proficiency with applicable computer software packages
- Exceptional verbal, written, listening and presentation communication skills
- Strong work ethic with excellent interpersonal skills
Schedule:
- Full-time position, typically 40-50 hours a week, but additional hours required as dictated by demands of the business
- Approximately 25-50% travel, sometimes with short notice and extended stays at facilities in the U.S. and Canada
