What are the responsibilities and job description for the Import Shipping Administrator position at Bunzl?
The Import Shipping Administrator will assist in carrier selection while focused on cost control and continuous improvement within the department. This person will also participate in a cross-functional team consisting of, but not limited to, purchasing, customer service, finance, and trade compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in daily communication with carriers including articulating booking instructions as required
- Maintain updated transportation costs in the AS400 and Routing Guide
- Investigate, negotiate, and process claims related to transportation
- Involved in day to day transportation issues that arise and work with the customer to resolve issues
- Assist drayage companies and branches to help drive down transportation costs
- Collaboratively work with accounts payable to audit freight payments and carrier billing accuracy
- Maintain AS400 distribution and logistics modules including but not limited to, daily shipment processing
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's degree is preferred
- Import and/or International Business experience or education highly preferred
- Minimum 2 years Customer Service experience in a call center environment and/or Logistics/Supply Chain Management
- Must possess excellent communication skills with proficient PC skills to include Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Must be detail oriented, a self starter, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Diplomatic problem solver with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- AS400 experience is highly preferred
