Position Summary:
The Biologist plays a critical role being responsible for collecting, organizing, and preparing samples for a variety of assay analysis and lab note booking. Other duties include maintaining general laboratory solutions, stocking and mammalian cell culture. A strong enthusiasm and want to learn and grow, as a well as excellent written and communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sample preparation (tissue homogenization and RNA, DNA, protein isolations)
- Routine sample analysis and method development (Western blot, ELISA/MSD with reagent prep/labeling, immunoprecipitation).
- Familiarity with or willingness to work with automation (liquid handlers, automated Western systems, tube labelers).
- Data processing (familiarity with Excel, GraphPad Prism, SigmaPlot, and/or JMP software) and accurately recording lab activities in an electronic notebook.
- General laboratory services (inventory, supplies, cleaning, stocking, instrument care and maintenance, and reagent or sample handling).
- Must be self-regulated and have high attention to detail for quality and strong organization skills.
- Perform other essential tasks projects and responsibilities as required.
Skills & Proficiencies:
- Professional, clear and concise communicate required in both written and verbal formats
- Proven Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint skills
- Experience with Western blots is required.
- Cell culture and automation experience is recommended.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written. Ability to communicate issues as they occur.
- Willingness to collaborate with partners across research functions.
- Works well both as a team and as an individual contributor.
- Strong safety focus and willingness to assist with general lab housekeeping.
- Ability and willingness to adapt to changing project needs and timelines and flex plans and responsibilities as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Degree requirement: Bachelor’s degree in science
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in highly detail-oriented environment
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
