JOB TITLE: CAD/GIS Technician
LOCATION: Fargo or Grand Forks, ND
JOB CATEGORY: Technical (Drafting, Mapping, and Analysis)
FULL TIME/PART TIME: Full Time
LEVEL OF TRAVEL REQUIRED? Minimal (Approximately 5%)
CAD Technician | GIS Analyst
For CAD focused work, you will be required to perform design and drafting work on various civil and water projects. Specific responsibilities associated with the position include:
· Create high quality exhibits from Engineer notes, sketches, and guidance
· Review, import, and export survey data in the correct coordinate system
· Collect and import GIS spatial data, shape files, and images into AutoCAD and Civil 3D software
· Create Existing Ground and Finished Ground surfaces with the ability to calculate earthwork quantities
· Create alignment, profiles, and cross sections in AutoCAD Civil 3D software
· Research Benchmarks, R/W Maps, and Government Notes and Deeds
· Draft and plot on a variety of projects including underground utility design, road design, site design, and facility design
· Address plan review comments and markups in a timely and organized manner
· Work with project manager design engineers to obtain required information
· Meet project deadlines and have the ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously
· Maintain company standards for file structuring and file organization
For GIS focused work, you will be responsible for analyzing various datasets, preparing maps and exhibits, and conducting technical GIS work. The ideal candidate should want to utilize new and innovative methods for incorporating GIS into projects and have demonstrated GIS experience working in the water and wastewater industry. Specific responsibilities associated with the position include:
· Frequently use ESRI ArcGIS programs and extensions
· Provide data cleaning, organization, and analysis services on a variety of projects and tasks
· Thoroughly review data for error and anomalies to ensure data is accurate
· Update geospatial datasets as needed
· Request data from clients to perform analyses and to support other technical staff
· Create high-resolutions maps and exhibits as well as ArcGIS StoryMaps
· Transfer knowledge to technical staff that don’t understand the components of GIS and ArcGIS programs
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications and Skills
· Extensive working knowledge of ESRI ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro
· Basic knowledge and proficiency in current release of AutoCAD and Civil 3D programs
· Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams
· Experience creating detailed maps and analyzing data
· Creative and innovative personality
· Ability to work in teams or as an individual
· Positive attitude and motivated work ethic
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
· BS in Geography or related field
· GISP Certification
· Experience creating ArcGIS StoryMaps
· Experience with various ArcGIS applications including Collector, Explorer, and Survey123
