Who We're Looking For:

We seek an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to oversee and spearhead our financial operations. The ideal candidate will take charge of managing all finance and accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. As a key member of our executive team, the Controller will play a crucial role in financial decision-making, providing strategic insights to support the company's growth and financial health.

What You'll Do:

  • Oversee all accounting operations including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
  • Implement and ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Coordination of the annual company review and 401K audit process, liaising with external auditors and evaluating necessary adjustments.
  • Oversight and forecasting of cash flow positions, related borrowing needs, and available funds for investment.
  • Establishment and enforcement of effective internal controls are in place, ensuring compliance with GAAP and relevant federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the accounting team, fostering professional growth and development.

You're Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA or CMA preferred. MBA desired.
  • Proven working experience as a Controller, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role within the finance department, preferably of a construction company or a related industry.
  • Comprehensive understanding of GAAP and financial principles and laws.
  • Experience in preparing financial statements, general ledger functions, and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and administration skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, coupled with accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities with a commitment to developing team members.
  • Ethical integrity, especially in managing confidential data.
