Burlington Children's Space is in search of an experienced accounting and HR professional to join our management team. The Burlington Children's Space, housed in the McClure Multi-Generational Center, is an economically and culturally diverse NAEYC accredited program offering early care and education for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. BCS is a spirited school with great staff and a long history of meeting the needs of children and families by working well with others, being a good neighbor, and celebrating the unique resources in the community. -This is not a remote position, must be able to come to work on site..
-In addition to maintaining positive relationships with children, staff and families, duties include
-Oversight of accounts payable and receivable, including building and classroom expenses
-Billing for private tuition and state subsidies for low- income families
-Reporting attendance to multiple agencies to ensure continued tuition funding
-Managing payroll, onboarding, health insurance, and CTO balances for all employees
-Managing records and expenses for CACFP food program
-Managing program budget and project budgets associated with public and private grants.
-Maintaining staff records, including background checks, benefits, and professional development
-Assisting in developing and tracking annual organizational budget
-Coordinating annual audit and delivering materials to outside auditors
-Good people skills, and an appreciation for children
-Minimum of associate degree in business administration, accounting, or equivalent and at least 3 years of experience
-Experience with data entry, record keeping, and computer operation, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll and grant management.
-Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office.
-Familiarity with HR issues including state and federal employment regulations and practices, FMLA requirements, and hiring practices.
-Keen attention to detail and ability to keep records and files organized.
-Strong time manager with respect for deadlines.
-Ability to work collaboratively with others, including the board treasurer, auditor, funders, Head Start and state agencies.
Experience with QuickBooks Software
Understanding of various tuition revenue sources such as Act 166, Head Start, State Subsidy, First Steps Initiative, etc.

Hours and salary are based on experience and may vary from $18 to $23 with 20 - 40 hours per week. Vacation, sick time and professional development provided. For employees working 32 hours or more - competitive health insurance and a Health Reimbursement Account. Some in person work is required, but partial remote working is a possibility.
