Overview_____________________________________________________________________
As a service team member, you will be expected to provide a friendly and exceptional food and beverage dining experience to all Members and Guests, ensuring satisfaction and Member retention. Bartenders will be responsible for greeting Members promptly while exhibiting a high level of hospitality and always providing a smile. BGC requires all Employees to be on time for their shift, dressed appropriately, and always have a good attitude. Familiarity of the Members is a must.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a positive attitude and the ability to work well under pressure with other servers, kitchen workers and management. During peak golf season, the bar will be at a high volume, therefore, experience in a fast-paced environment is a must.
Responsibilities________________________________________________________________
- Opening/closing tasks
- Engage with Members and Guests to take food/beverage orders
- Prepares drinks and cocktails per Member requests
- Assess Member preferences and make drink recommendations
- POS system knowledge
- Ability to handle money, credit cards, and Member account charges
- Responsible for counting drawers and making money drops at the end of each shift
- Stay updated on current menu choices, specialties, and menu changes
- Work closely with the kitchen expo worker to ensure timely dining meal service
- Wash and polish glasses
- Responsible for stocking bar at the end of shift
- Maintain a clean and orderly dining room and bar station complying with all food and beverage regulations, including health, safety and hygiene standards and policies
- Adhere to company standards and all local and state liquor laws
- Promptly address Member/Guest service issues and refer to management when necessary
- Answer the phone during evening hours
- Manage inventory and beverage order needs

- Market the Club in a positive manner
- All other duties as assigned.
Employment Standards_________________________________________________________
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Preferred Mixology experience; not a requirement
- Extensive knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, champagne, and drink preparation
- Must understand or have ability to understand the classes of alcohol, different glasses, brand names and garnishments
- 1 year experience in food service or hospitality
- Must be flexible in day/night shift Tuesday through Sunday (Sunday daytime during summer months & Monday for events only)
- Pay $9 - $12/hour tips
- Iowa Program for Alcohol Compliance Training Certification a plus
- Must be 18 years of age to serve alcohol according to state law
