What are the responsibilities and job description for the Whey Spreader position at Burnett Dairy Cooperative?
The Whey Spreader is responsible for monitoring and controlling the delivery and application of high strength waste, its’ proper location, and proper volume. Ensures compliance with the limits imposed by the Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (WPDES) permit. This is a rotational schedule, working 10 days on and then 4 days off, and every other weekend. The shift start time is 6:30 am and the end time varies, based on the route schedule.
The primary accountabilities/responsibilities include:
- Load and deliver high strength waste to approved DNR field locations and apply appropriately
- Develop a viable application management plan according to volume, location, and season.
- Document exact locations of approved fields for each application.
- Monitor authorized number of applications per location determined by allowed acreage.
- Ensure complete compliance with the DNR issued (WPDES) permit requirements.
- Communicate with Wastewater Operator to determine hauling interval of bio-solids from treatment facility.
- Ensure delivery truck is inspected and determined ready for use daily according to DOT regulations.
- Maintain waste storage facility, silos, associated transfer lines, and valves
Job requirements include:
- An unrestricted Class B CDL with Tanker and Air Brakes endorsements is required. Class A CDL is preferred and may be required for certain tasks.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift license and safely operate a forklift.
- Must consistently maintain a clean driving record.
Physical Demands:
- Required to lift up to 50 Pounds; Push/Pull up to 40 pounds
- Pull/Climb into truck cab
- Dexterity to fully operate truck controls to include foot and hand controls
- Repetitive Motion; frequent use of hands
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
