As Quality Manager, you will coordinate, facilitate, and execute all actions to ensure the effectiveness and compliance of the Business Management System (BMS) which is aligned with ISO-9001:2015, to incorporate other key functions within the business.
Achieving success as a Quality Manager, for Burns Engineering, will require one to support the effectiveness of the NVLAP accreditation of the Calibration Lab, and oversee the approvals of ATEX, IECEx, and Factory Mutual product approval for Hazardous locations.
Responsibilities:
• Implement and maintain inspection methods that effectively verify incoming, in-process and final products.
• Monitor and support inspection activities to ensure they adhere to established quality requirements.
• Bring customer perspective to all interactions, creating a high level of awareness and commitment to documented procedures and best practices throughout the organization.
• Lead, facilitate, and participate in the implementation and improvement of processes and procedures for all functional areas of the business.
• Train on all procedures, new, revised, and current. Manage and maintain training records.
• Audit the Business Management System (BMS) in collaboration with other auditors, identifying areas for improvement and initiating corrective actions as required.
• Monitor supplier quality and work with suppliers to improve material acceptance, when necessary.
• Ensure quality issues are resolved promptly and follow up to verify the effectiveness of changes/improvements.
• Work with Engineering and Leads to drive quality upstream to identify issues as early as possible in the process.
• Main contact for all customers and third-party Auditors; manage audit events.
• Participate in the supplier qualification process, and supplier re-evaluation, as necessary.
• Assist suppliers and customers with quality issues and manage the RMA (Return Material Authorization) process for quality-related issues.
Key Accountabilities and Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in business and/or engineering with a minimum of 5 years in a quality role at an ISO-9001 manufacturing organization.
• Proven knowledge and understanding of the requirements and implementation of ISO-9001 and ISO-17025 standards.
• Participation in AQS or other Quality System organizations.
• Be open to learning the requirements of NVLAP accreditation of the Calibration Lab, and the approvals of ATEX, IECEx, and Factory Mutual product approval for Hazardous locations.
• Ensure the effectiveness of internal audits by performing final review and approval; and prepare and coordinate all aspects of external audits.
• Keep all inspection equipment in operational condition and coordinate calibration for inspection
• Assess and modify inspection processes to strive for zero escapes to inventory as well as zero escapes to customers.
• Initiate Corrective Actions (CPAs), document solutions, collaborate with Engineering to drive improvements, and strive for timely CPA closure and follow-up.
• Prepare quality and management reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.
• Proven analytical thinker with technical aptitude.
