Lead Business Intelligence Analyst - 1898 & Co. (Kansas City)

The Lead Business Intelligence Analyst will assist with a variety of consulting projects supporting the Business Intelligence and Analytics Business Line within 1898 & Co. This role will perform individual tasks and lead the delivery of analytics services to the project and client. The ideal candidate will have experience in data analysis, requirements gathering and must have an understanding of data storage engines and the associated business intelligence tools. Services associated with this role will be leveraged across multiple industries but will primarily be focused within the Electric Utility sector. You must be comfortable working in a fast paced and fluid environment where muti-tasking is common.

• Support projects by interpreting and applying engineering, financial, and economic theories and principles to complete assigned tasks on planning, analysis, and subsequent business implications to client projects.

• Assist with analyzing life-cycle costs by developing and incorporating technical assumptions regarding capital costs, operation and maintenance costs, performance estimates, and economic assumptions and forecasts.

• Apply basic knowledge of commonly used engineering and financial concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the consulting services industry.

• Assist project team with technical assessments that evaluate impacts associated with rules implemented by regulatory agencies.

• Assist with designing, reviewing, and modifying drawings for project requirements that are set forth by the project managers.

• Support power system planning and operations analysis, including power flow, transient, stability, short circuit, electromagnetic transients, reliability, and economic dispatch.

• Support transmission/distribution study analysis utilizing power system software.

• Support technical and business-related risk assessments.

• Support developing and performing detailed financial analysis using a variety of computer-based software.

• Support developing technical reports and presentations summarizing results of analysis.

• Support preparation of client presentations, engineering reviews, financial analysis, and contract administration for the design/planning of utility systems.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Accounting or a related degree from an accredited program and 1 year relevant experience

• Basic knowledge of standard engineering techniques, principles and procedures.

• Assist and sometimes lead data visualizations and dashboards development to tell stories that help drive business outcomes

• Perform design and development of data pipelines to ingest, transform and cleanse data

• Build analytics and models supporting a variety of domains and use cases

• Perform development of data capture and data integration processes

• Conduct research and compile information for senior project team members

• Apply common industry practices and principles supporting data analysis practices.

• Desire to grow technical capabilities toward a data visualization expert, data engineer or data scientist is preferred

• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
