Responsibilities
*This position is open to multiple locations across the U.S.*
Working with the Director of Professional Liability Underwriting, this position is responsible for leading the underwriting and marketing of an architect, engineering and construction industry program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, technical analysis of submissions, strategically marketing to key clients, increasing submission and quote to bind ratios, serving as a subject matter expert via presentations and email marketing, maintaining department service expectations, and generating profitable underwing results.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and underwrite a book of architects, engineers and construction industry related risks
- Strategically market the program to key clients placing an emphasis on submission volume and quote to bind ratios
- Provide ongoing evaluation of appropriate rates, forms and underwriting criteria
- Manage profit and growth goals for the program
- Ensure client service standards are maintained within department guidelines
- Monitor critical areas, such as loss ratio, costs, retention ratio and new business hit ratio; formulate corrective action where necessary
- Relationship management with key carrier partners and referral underwriters
- Cross sell additional program/division capabilities where necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- 5 years of architects, engineers and construction industry focused underwriting experience
- Demonstrated success in portfolio growth and profitable underwriting results
- Ability to interface internally and externally with carriers, brokers and reinsurers to ensure successful, high-quality outcomes
- Candidate should be creative, innovative and dynamic with leadership qualities
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically
- Strong influencing, negotiation and relationship building skills
- Ability to present complex ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
