What are the responsibilities and job description for the Turnaround Planner position at Burrow Global?
Burrow Global is seeking to hire 5 - Turnaround Planners for a turnaround project with a chemical manufacturer located on the east side of Houston. This position will begin Nov 1, 2023 and last until April 2025. We are hiring the following:
2 - Mechanical Fixed Equipment Planners with exchanger, tower and vessel experience.
2 - Piping Planners with welding, pipefitting, NDT, and material specifications experience.
1 – I&E Planner with SIS, Control Valve and Electrical experience
Functional Requirements:
Candidates will review specifications, drawings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work, material, outside services and sub-contractors. Reviews and incorporates historical data into unit and man-hour estimates. Estimate and purchase materials required to complete the scope of work. Build field job plan packages. Estimate extras, change orders, and discovery work items. Maintain files of working documents and backup for estimate figures.
Pre-employment preferred work experience:
- Minimum two (2) to three (3) years of field planning experience and/or education in construction technology (NCCER certification, craft journeyman, or foreman in industrial construction or maintenance turnarounds is an additional benefit)
- Ability to estimate material and labor quantities from industrial construction drawings for multiple craft disciplines
- Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Preferred experience in planning software applications.
Primary responsibilities and task:
- Use client ERP systems to identify upcoming installations, maintenance, and repairs
- Estimate scope of work in terms of direct craft labor hours and duration
- Preform material take-offs of repair or replace-in-kind work
- Determine resource and skill requirements for scope of work
- Document expectations of resource utilization and timing in client ERP system
- Determine options for scope of work and present scenarios of compatible work packages or combinations of similar scope to the client
- Document change orders request for deviations on drawings, changes in field conditions, or engineering busts
- Preform job-walks and collaboratively with respective discipline Subject Matter Experts to develop job steps (activities), craft breakdown and man-hours required
- Monitor and document progress of the scope work within the client's EPR system
- Prepare subcontractor work packages for the bid process and work execution

- TWIC card required
- 4/10 Work Schedule until the turnaround begins.
- During the turnaround 7/12 13 on 1 day off schedule.
