Specific Accountabilities:
- Manage assigned categories to maximize sales, sell thru, profit and market share.
- Assist in set management for assigned categories including defining supplier sources, optimizing category sku range, completing market/internal product research, and completing product selection maintenance.
- Monitor competitive retail pricing in assigned categories to maximize sales and profits.
- Develop annual, seasonal and weekly promotional activity plans, inclusive of product promotional selection, margin forecasting, store merchandising direction, signage, ad proofing, competitive activity and product pre-sells.
- Manager vendor relationships. Conduct regular meetings and communicate with suppliers to monitor supplier performance.
- Conduct store and competitive store visits to stay abreast of industry trends and issues.
- Respond to guest feedback requests weekly.
- Maintain focus on effective merchandising in resets and new/discontinued items along with seasonality of departments.
- Provide solid leadership and guidance to direct reports.
- Contribute to organizational effectiveness by offering information, suggestions and recommendations.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by completing educational opportunities, reviewing professional publications, benchmarking state of the art practices and networking.
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in business or related field required.
- Previous category management experience preferred.
- Store operations experience preferred.
- Proficient category knowledge including food trends.
- Proficient management and leadership skills.
- Proficient merchandising knowledge.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Strong organization and planning skills, especially to manage multiple deadlines and projects.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including written, verbal and listening skills.
- Strong computer skills in excel, word, power point and email. Able to learn and use a variety of proprietary applications and technology.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.
