Pocket-lint is looking for a Devices Segment Lead with broad familiarity of tech devices to join their lovely team!

Pocket-lint is a trusted global authority on all things consumer tech. We offer news, reviews, buyer's guides, deals, opinion, and video on the latest tech hardware and gadgets -- from phones and wearables to TVs and smart home devices and much more.

The Segment Lead role is an integral part of the Pocket-lint organization, reporting directly to the Operations Manager. Valnet operates a website’s segment like an independent business, and the segment lead works to ensure that both content and business KPIs are met. The Segment Lead operates their segment, or vertical, from the content planning stage all the way through publishing and postmortem, working with editors and writers to publish high-value content on a daily basis. The Segment Lead is also expected to work with the other Leads, alongside the OM and other stakeholders, to ensure the financial health of their vertical by using internal reporting tools and various other methods.

The Segment Lead has the following responsibilities:

Content Planning

1. Utilize SEO, traffic, and industry research to create content plans in collaboration with the Content Partner.
2. Work with editors to optimize content ideas across all content types (evergreen, news, features, reviews, commerce).
3. Generate EDIs (Editorial Ideas) for content development.

1. Work with training lead to transition new writers from training program to regular workflow.
2. Provide support and mentorship to editorial staff.

1. Guide the editorial team to maintain content alignment with segment goals.
2. Manage content updates through various updates reports and SEO tools.
3. Keep a vigilant eye on content output, offering editing and feedback where necessary.

1. Stay up-to-date with industry/section-specific trends and news to inform content decisions.
2. Monitor section traffic and key performance indicators (KPIs) for data-driven decision-making.

1. Attend relevant meetings to stay informed and share insights.
2. Work closely with the EIC to ensure the segment meets crucial KPIs, aligns with the CIP (Content Implementation Plan) and stays within budget.

1. Handle other miscellaneous tasks as needed.
2. Write and edit when necessary.
