| POSITION Criminal Justice Instructor

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Criminal Justice Instructor is responsible for the delivery of quality education that adheres to required curriculum standards. Courses taught may address topics including the American criminal justice system, security and protective services, investigations and forensics, the corrections system, police work and practices, and Homeland Security. Students will also participate in the Skills USA career-technical student organization.
| QUALIFICATIONS-
Appropriate licensure/certification through the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) or ability to obtain proper licensure. Applicants must meet ONE OF THE FOLLOWING requirements to be considered for this position:

Currently hold ODE licensure in Criminal Justice (172802); OR
-
Possess a minimum of five years relevant work experience in criminal justice if only a high school diploma is held; OR
-
Possess a minimum of three years relevant work experience in criminal justice if an Associate’s degree in criminal justice is or related field is held; OR
-
Possess two years related experience if a Bachelor’s is held in criminal justice or related field;
-
An associate degree or higher in criminal justice, law enforcement, or related field is preferred;

Service as an academy commander or unit instructor is preferred;

Completion of an Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Program approved by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission or equivalent;

Experience as a duly appointed law enforcement officer by a city police department, county sheriff-department or state patrol, with experience in traffic control, domestic disturbances, accident and crime scene investigation, finger printing, crowd control, etc.;

Willingness/ability to work with students, teachers and administrators as a team member;

Computer expertise appropriate to the position;

Effective and demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, analytical, oral and written communication, and organizational skills;

State-issued identification card with photograph;

History of strong work record, including good job attendance; and
-
Documented evidence of acceptable criminal record as required by Ohio law and Board Policy.

| SALARY Based upon experience and education (Minimum $49,667)
