Summary:
The Chaplain ensures that older Jewish adults at risk of isolation feel connected spiritually and to the Jewish community by delivering pastoral care to Jewish residents of area skilled nursing, assisted living facilities and group homes.

Education: master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, human services, or education.
And/or
Work Experience: Is an ordained Rabbi or current enrollment as rabbinical student. Experience in counseling, geriatrics, and pastoral care.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Licenses, Certifications and Professional Affiliations:
Certification in chaplaincy desirable, but not required.

Can comfortably handle discussion and questions, even on controversial or difficult topics. Can manage groups during presentations. Connects with an audience using rapport building techniques and can maintain attention. Ability to change presentation approach and style if necessary.

Volunteers, as needed.
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in an inside office environment or in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. Occasionally makes visits in private homes/hospitals.
Physical Demands:
This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds. Must take appropriate precautions to prevent exposure to infection.
Travel:
Travel within the community is required. Must have access to reliable, private transportation.
