Location: Brighton, MI 48116
Work Environment: HYBRID.  3-4 days per week onsite
Travel: _< 10% Domestic
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop Virtual Model in the Loop (MIL), Software in the Loop (SIL), Virtual Hardware in the Loop (VHIL), and real time Hardware in the Loop (HIL) simulation systems for virtual system development and calibration.
  • Perform or support MIL, SIL, VHIL, and HIL tests to develop and verify actuator controls
  • Support the validation team with representative system models (MIL/SIL/VHIL/HIL) to enable functional validation testing.
  • Work with vehicle development engineers to acquire any required vehicle data to develop simulation models and assist with virtual calibration.
  • Work with actuator, component, and controls engineers to develop new actuator and actuator control systems for brake, suspension, and chassis systems
  • Work with test engineers to acquire any required data to support actuator model development
  • Interface with hardware design teams and systems engineering teams to address/resolve issues with software / hardware interfaces or algorithm controls
  • Investigate and resolve product issues found during development and validation testing using simulation
  • Work with internal and external customers to resolve complex vehicle and system issues
 
Requirement Qualifications:
  • BSEE, BSME, or BSCE degree
  • Experience and/or interest in embedded control system development
  • Familiarity and/or interest in vehicle dynamics simulation
  • Familiarity with ISO26262
  • Experience and/or interest in non-real time and real-time simulation methods:  Model in the Loop (MIL), Software in the loop (SIL), virtual Hardware in the Loop (VHIL), and real time Hardware in the Loop (HIL) testing
  • Experience with Mathworks analysis and modeling tools: Matlab, Simulink, and Stateflow.
  • Knowledge of C/C programming language
  • Working-level knowledge of instrumentation and analytical tools
  • Basic automobile driving skills
  • Good technical problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with common computer applications – word, excel, powerpoint, databases, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work with team members of other disciplines or departments
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MSEE, MSME, or MSCE degree
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle dynamic principles
  • Experience with Brake, Suspension, or Vehicle Control systems
  • Experience with hydraulic brake and/or air suspension valve components and actuator systems
  • Experience with developing simulation models for mechanical actuators
  • Experience with determining FTTI values per ISO26262 or equivalent safety process
  • Familiarity with ATI Vision data acquisition system
  • Experience and/or interest in vehicle system development and testing
  • Knowledge of vehicle communication protocols (GMLAN, CAN, Ethernet)
  • Familiarity with software test tools such as Vector CANalyzer, CANape, CANoe
  • Familiarity with dSPACE Toolset (TargetLink and ControlDesk)
  • Knowledge of debugging, testing, and verification techniques
  • 1-3 years of experience in embedded control system development using Simulation
