BWI Group is a premier chassis supplier that designs and manufactures brake and suspension systems for the global transportation market. BWI Group is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Suspension Division in Greenfield, IN.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implement processes including equipment procurement, process capability prove-out, coordination of installation, process documentation, training, PPAP, and production start-up
Contribute to the product introduction process with respect to cost estimation, process investigation, and prototype manufacturing
Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation and quality plans according to company standards (including PFD, PFMEA, PCP, Standard Work Instructions, EOP, BOP)
Continuous improvement projects to improve up time and decrease material costs
Support daily production goals via technical assistance to the manufacturing teams
Resolve numerous and cross functional issues
Facilitate product developments in compliance with manufacturing and BWI Corporate standards.
Provide critical project support, develop risk management solutions, and engineering guidance that will impact operational and process improvement
Perform all necessary studies to assure compatibility of process capability with design requirements
Utilize the Bill of Process (BOP) and other proper manufacturing processes and assembly methods
Develop & implement new technologies to the manufacturing process
Apply lean manufacturing principles to all aspects of the process manufacturing equipment ensuring quality, safety, capacity, and high value-added operations
Participate with Industrial Engineers in building the cell moke-up and workstation.
Schedule, plan, and prioritize projects
Contribute ideas and concepts
Initiate and/or perform process analysis - e.g., PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis), DFM (Design for Manufacture/Assembly), etc.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or B.S. degree in Welding and Metalurgy
5 years’ experience in
GMAW (MIG) Welding Equipment
Resistance Welding Equipment
Robotic MIG Weld Cell Implementation
AutoCAD and SoildWorks experience
Ability to read product and equipment / tooling blueprints
Understanding of basic GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
Experience in using the Microsoft Office applications
High level of interpersonal skills
High level of oral and written communication skills
Yaskawa/Motoman Robot programming Experience
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
Experience in Automotive Industry (especially in dampers manufacturing)
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing/JIT concepts
Knowledge on Hot Bottom forming process
Pressing & re-sizing operations
Piercing & Notching operations
