Classification: Full Time

Hours: Afternoons and weekends.

Overview:

The Certified Peer Recovery Coach is a para-professional with strong links to case management. The CPRC works in cooperation with case manager, primary counselor, and community support systems with a responsibility to evaluate participants’ need for supportive and essential services and personal encouragement throughout their course of recovery seeking efforts with BWROC

Responsibilities:

· Work Wednesday through Sunday afternoons and early evenings 40 hours per week with partner agency in New Baltimore, MI.

· Work with any partner agency setting up recovery after care and providing on-site recovery support services.

· Transporting participants to treatment and back.

· Deliver recovery coaching to participants.

· Establishes a wellness plan with each participant and serves as a guide to achieve set goals.

· Meets with and/or communicates with participants each week.

· Demonstrates knowledge of trauma informed care.

· Demonstrates positive beliefs and feelings regarding participants with varying levels of needs and multiple pathways to recovery.

· Collects participant data and conducts follow up to ensure long - term participant engagement.

· Helps navigate recovery support systems.

· Able to share personal recovery experiences and can model effective coping techniques.

· Provides participants with ongoing education regarding substance use, mental health, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, tobacco, nutrition and exercise and other health and wellness information.

· Finds creative and effective solutions to complex problems and justifies prioritization when needed.

· Provides peer support in a positive and supportive manner through coaching, role modeling and mentoring to assist members in developing skills to achieve their goals.

· Serves as a liaison between administration, staff, clients, and volunteers.

· Effective written and verbal communication, including ability to communicate in a professional manner.

· Ensure emergency basic needs are addressed immediately ( i.e., food, temporary housing, transportation, clothing, etc.);

· Make follow - up calls after all referrals are made.

· Ensure all referrals and participant meetings are documented in case notes and in participant’s file.

· Ability to facilitate recovery support groups as needed and addiction education groups.

· Ensure constant communication is made with the criminal justice monitoring agency ( i.e. Probation/parole/community corrections officers, etc.) to inform them of services BWROC is providing.

· Recovery Planning -- facilitate (via personal coaching) the transition from a professionally directed service plan to a self - directed Recovery Plan. The goal should be to transition from professionally assisted recovery initiation to personally directed, community supported recovery maintenance.

· Provide case notes for every intervention (i.e., appointment, phone call, etc.) in the participant services database.

· Maintain confidentiality and the highest standards of ethical practices personally and professionally.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required

• High school diploma/G.E.D.
• Must have recovery coach certification(s) from Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Certified Peer Recovery Coach and/or CCAR certificate holder.
• Must be willing to acquire Master Life Coach certificate; MDHHS Certified Community Navigator; and Compliance Training Group Diversity and Inclusion certificate.
• CPRC must have a working knowledge of the drug and alcohol treatment system and a demonstrated commitment to the recovery community.
• Must have two (2) continuous years of sobriety.
