At BWXT, The HR Analyst is responsible for compiling, structuring, and analyzing human resources data to make conclusions that help streamline all processes. In addition, they are responsible for ensuring that all managers within the organization stay updated on the status of queries, issues, and concerns by collecting relevant information, as necessary.
What you will be doing:
- Collect and compile HR metrics and data from a variety of sources including the human resource information system (HRIS) and payroll outputs, management and employee surveys, exit interviews, employment records, government labor statistics, competitors’ practices, and other sources.
- Analyze data and statistics for trends and patterns with attention to recruitment, hiring practices, motivation, turnover, and compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Prepare reports of data results, presenting and explaining findings to senior leadership.
- Identify and recommend reasonable short- and long-term goals, milestones, and benchmarks for key performance metrics.
- Based on metrics and analysis, make recommendations for policies and activities to improve the organizational culture including suggestions to attract and hire qualified candidates, to motivate and retain employees, to address staffing issues, and to maintain legal compliance.
- Facilitate implementation of new training, development, recruiting, and other related initiatives.
- May conduct or assist with conducting classification audits to ensure that jobs are properly classified as exempt or nonexempt.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices to include compliance with all related compensation and pay regulations including, but not limited to, FLSA, pay transparency, and pay equity laws at all levels (Federal, State, and Local).
- May assist HR leadership with staffing, recruiting, and departmental budgets.
- May guide and/or assist with performance, benefit, and compensation review and evaluation processes.
- Review proposed organizational structure changes and consults with HR Managers and Total Rewards regarding job descriptions, job leveling, title changes, etc.
- Identify non-automated and non-strategic business processes and works to design, execute, document, measure, and monitor more effective and efficient solutions.
- Other duties as assigned.
- This role offers a remote or hybrid schedule in Lynchburg, VA.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, industrial psychology, or relevant field; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Five (5) years of related experience with at least two (2) years of experience in progressive compensation and analytics.
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE L-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
Additional Qualifications and Key Skills
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt or greater certification preferred.
- Professional project management (PMP) certification preferred.
- Proficient understanding of HR COEs (Compensation, DEI, Strategy, etc.) and how HR Analytics supports business needs.
- Demonstrated operational excellence & continuous improvement mindset with effective project execution and measurable improvements.
- Ability to create and maintain accurate spreadsheets and reports.
- Self-starter with the ability to self-train and pick up new skills quickly.
- Experience in the use of MS Excel (intermediate/advanced level Excel), PowerPoint and SharePoint.
- Broad working knowledge of other HR areas (i.e., Talent Acquisition, Employee relations, Development & Operations).
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of project management principles, concepts, practices, standards, processes, and systems.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills; effective interpersonal skills.
- Experience conducting business analysis and facilitating teams through various project stages (e.g., initiation, requirements sessions, design reviews).
- Known for strong quantitative background to support data-informed decision making.
- Collaborative, team player attitude with the ability to navigate and influence the organization with influence and communication skills that can positively drive transformational change, and adapt to dynamic environments.
