Summary:
The Support staff is to help out the wait staff and bartenders. Support Staff clean tables, take plates, utensils, and drinkware to the kitchen to be washed, make sure diners' water glasses are full, and reset tables for the next service. Support Staff help waiters and waitresses bring food out to a table, restock utensils, napkins, and other dining room needs. Support Staff make sure waiters and waitresses can focus on the diners and make sure that food comes out in a speedy manner.
Reports to: General Manager
Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Obtain service area assignments at the beginning of each shift.
- Promptly greet guests as they are seated and bring water to the table.
- Remove used tableware between courses and provide tableware for the next course.
- Clear tables after guests.
- Take soiled tableware to the kitchen sink, unload, sort, and stack silverware, dishes, glassware, etc. in designated areas in the soiled dish drop-off area.
- Between seating’s promptly clean tabletops, chairs, and booths. Check floor and clean as required. Reset and arrange tabletop.
- Respond appropriately to guest requests. Communicate guest requests to the server as needed.
- Assist server as needed with food delivery, especially with large parties and during peak periods.
- Thank guests as they are leaving.
- Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor
Requirements
- Excellent oral communication skills are required.
- Positive interpersonal skills are required.
- No previous restaurant experience is required.
- Be able to lift, reach, bend and stoop.
Certification:
- Food Handlers Card
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Ability to speak and hear
- Close and distance vision
- Identify and distinguish colors
- Frequent walking with some standing at times
- Will walk for long periods of time, possibly extended distances
- Frequently lifts/carries up to 25 lbs
- Occasionally lifts/carries up to 50 lbs
- Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills
- Able to reach hands and arms in any direction and kneel and stoop repeatedly
- Will work near moving or mechanical parts. Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates.
