Lonza Kingston is hiring an Operations Intern to work on a cross-disciplinary team including production engineers, project managers, quality team and manufacturing technologists for 12 months. The intern will work directly with the manufacturing team that assembles and tests medical devices, medical equipment and disposables as per specifications. This team member will be expected to assist in the manufacturing and testing processes for a complex electromechanical instrument and its accessories. The Operations Intern will be an integral part of the Manufacturing Team, which is focused on manufacturing our Cocoon® product line through the product life-cycle. The Cocoon® platform is specifically developed to automate the production of cell-based therapies for clinical applications. This position is located on site at our Kingston office. The work schedule is Monday-Friday 8:00a-5:00p. Key responsibilities: Support Operation team with creation of fixtures drawings, specifications, design review and analysis Actively participate in continuous process improvement activities Provide debugging, troubleshooting and issue resolutions for the manufacturing of electromechanical instruments and accessories. Work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver on each project. Support Admin duties Writing and revising technical documents including test protocols and reports, bills of materials, work instructions and quality forms Execute identified corrective actions to improve product and manufacturing process. Comply with Quality system requirements and documentation. Work within a self-directed team environment Present results to direct supervisor and members of the team Perform other duties as assigned. Key requirements: High school diploma required. At least 1 year of undergraduate engineering experience required. Engineering student, preferably with focus on biomedical, mechanical, materials or systems design Strong hands-on skills and comfort with quickly learning use of tools. Technical report writing skills, preferred. Understanding of CAD and reading engineering drawings or schematics (SolidWorks preferred) Demonstrated experience with problem solving or troubleshooting equipment and root cause analysis. Past experience working within a quality management system or regulated environment is beneficial. Data analysis, presentation and communication skills Good written and oral communication skills Must be able to work Independently. Strong work ethic required. Ability to work in a team setting.
