Office Specialist I - Elections

OVERVIEW

The Elections Department at Cache County Corporation is accepting applications for an Elections Specialist position.

This is a full-time, benefited position, generally working M-F 8 a.m.-5 p.m. You get weekends off, 14 paid holidays, and 140 hours of personal leave time within the first year! All benefits are available on the first day of employment. We also participate in the Utah Retirement System.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Elections Specialist will perform various entry-level complex clerical and secretarial duties as needed to expedite the daily processes and statutory obligations of the office of the County Clerk. The County Clerk conducts all elections in Utah County pertaining to County, State, or National offices.

Under general guidance and supervision of the Elections Supervisor, the Elections Specialist will perform technical and support services for election systems and software programs. Generates reports and performs basic troubleshooting of election systems and software programs. Advise the public concerning laws, procedures, and other formal processes, including elections, voter registrations, and licensing. Assist in monitoring the petitioning to run for office, which may include assisting in the organization of federal, state, and county elections and training of precinct registration agents and election judges.

The Elections Specialist may assist with other office support duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience: Graduation from High School AND at least 1 year of experience related to elections, project management, or office management; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The ideal candidate for the Election Specialist position will be skilled in operating a computer terminal, typing, data entry, filing systems, standard office practices, and procedures related to filing and record keeping; capability to work under time pressure in meeting deadlines; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, supervisors, and elected officials; provide excellent customer service.
