What are the responsibilities and job description for the FPGA Developer position at CACI?
CACI's Photonics Ops West team specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of complex, state-of-the-art sensors and communication systems for military, space, and commercial applications. Our products include optical and RF communication systems as well as sophisticated image processing & visualization systems.
We are currently looking for an experienced FPGA developer to join our team with a leading role in firmware architecture and development for our portfolio of space-based systems.
Responsibilities include:
Close collaboration with the design teams on system architect
Ownership of the firmware architecture, implementation, verification, and development timeline
Active participation in hardware component selection decisions and design reviews
Debugging firmware issues on hardware in a laboratory setting
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications/experience:
BSEE or higher in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering
3-5 years work experience in FPGA programming with specific roles in coding for real-time systems
Proficiency with the Xilinx Vivado toolchain and Verilog hardware description language
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated and self-directed, requiring little supervision
The following qualifications and experience are highly desired but not required:
Design background in physical layer for telecommunication or photonic systems
Experience developing firmware for space environments
Experience with Python/TCL scripting for automation and test development
