What You’ll Get to Do:

• Hands-on development and testing of custom lasers and other optical systems for remote sensing, free-space optical communications, RF photonics, and other applications
• Designing, setting up, and using optical test apparatus to evaluate key optical components and subsystems, and analyzing test results
• Splicing optical fiber to create optical amplifiers, lasers and other test setups
• Developing lab instrument control software for automated testing
• If required, obtain/retain a government security clearance at the level required to perform the duties of the position

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in optics, physics, electrical engineering, or a related field
• Independent senior research project, internship, or other similar research experience that involved one of more of the following: lasers, fiber optics, optical communications, nonlinear optics, spectroscopy, integrated photonics, or RF photonics
• Hands-on experience working in an optical lab and using common optical test equipment such as power meters, optical spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes.
• Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
